1. Sony Research India Work from Home Jobs in India 2025 Roles and Responsibilities of a Linguist Intern:

The obligations and job roles for the off-campus drive are mentioned below.

• To ensure correctness, fluency, and a natural speech flow, edit and polish translated subtitles.
• Make sure the subtitles' timing and segmentation match the speech's tempo.
• Translations of entertainment content should be adjusted for audience engagement and cultural relevance.
• To make sure the text matches the vocal output produced by AI, work with audio experts.
• Develop multilingual discourse localization while maintaining the original meaning and tone.
• Execute superior language quality assurance (LQA).
• The paid internship will begin the first week of April in 2025 and run for six months.
• The full-time working hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 18:00. 

Qualifications required for Sony Research India:

• Essential Education: A degree in linguistics, translation studies, media localization, or a similar discipline, either currently being pursued or recently earned. 
• solid command of grammar, phonetics, and syntax in at least one major language—ideally English plus one of the Indian languages.
• Competencies needed: ability to use software for modifying subtitles, such as EZTitles, Aegisub, Ooona, or Subtitle Edit. 
• strong comprehension of subtitle reading, text alignment, and timing. 
• the capacity to rewrite and reorganize material to improve spoken language clarity. 
• understanding of cultural modifications, idioms, and linguistic subtleties for dubbing screenplays.

Good-to-have abilities:

• It is advantageous to have prior experience in localization, editing, or subtitle translation for movies, TV series, or web series. 
• It is preferable to have experience working on speech-to-text, captioning, or subtitling projects in the media and entertainment sector.
• knowledge of speech synthesis technology and AI-assisted translation tools. 
• For multilingual projects, knowledge of script variations (Devanagari, Tamil, Bengali, etc.) is essential. 
• knowledge on how to format subtitles for readability and compress text. 
• A basic understanding of Python scripting to automate the processing of subtitles.
